When it comes to ‘screen time’ I have been quite lucky with the girls, they normally turn the TV off because they would rather play. It’s tougher for modern day parents because there are so many more opportunities that encourage more screen time, plus kids are so tech savvy these days. Don’t get me wrong, the girls do love playing on their tablets and they could play on them for hours if I let them (and if the battery lasted), which is why I am massive fan of educational apps such as Montessori Preschool by Edoki Academy.
We have partnered with Edoki Academy to try and review their brilliant Montessori Preschool app and I have been so impressed with it so far. I am a fan of the Montessori method of education, it’s based on hands-on learning and collaborative play and it also encourages children to make their own creative choices in learning. The Montessori Preschool app captures this perfectly, it’s fast-paced, creative, hands-on, it’s great for curious minds and most importantly, it’s heaps of fun.
After our stint of homeschooling, the girls have really got into phonics, numbers and writing. The Montessori Preschool app has over 1000 learning activities, perfect for children aged 3-7 years old and they are brilliant for helping to build skills such as counting, reading, coding and writing, plus you can even learn Mandarin (me and the girls have learnt how to count up to five). It’s been cleverly designed, you literally feel like you’ve stepped into a virtual preschool and as you swipe your finger left, it’s as if you are walking down the coridoor. So much attention has gone into detail, there are even class pets, this app is so interactive.
Flo loved feeding the class goldfish and cleaning its bowl, she was entertained for ages, there is also a hamster. You can go into different classrooms which are clearly labelled, the girls loved the Math’s room, Flo was really chuffed when she managed to write numbers, with the help of her big Sister Bella. There are various activities that encourage your little ones to count, problem solve and they can either trace the number or write it independently. There is an art room, where your child can learn their colours, shapes and play pairs.
As you complete activities your child will earn coins which they can use in the shop, where they can buy virtual toys and different clothes for their characters. This Montessori Preschool app provides endless entertainment, the girls absolutely loved exploring every nook and cranny, they loved singing along to Head, Shoulders, Knees and Toes and they thought the dancing skeleton was hilarious. Montessori Preschool app is a Multi-lingual app and can be spoken in English, Spanish, Mandarin and French, it’s featured by Apple as “Editors choice” and it’s used by 5 million families worldwide, I’m not surprised it’s absolutely brilliant.
With the Montessori Preschool app the girls get to have screen time but they are learning the whole time, if that’s not a parent win, I don’t know what is. If you want to check out the app for yourselves click here https://montessori.edokiacademy.com/en/payment/?promo-code=MAMADOIT50 and start your free, one-week trial, plus 50% off your first year of subscription, if you use MAMADOIT50. I love guilt free screen time and watching the girls play and problem solve together, I highly recommend that you check it out.
