Having visited Cornwall three times so far, I’m not sure how we missed Springfield’s Fun Park & Pony Centre! It’s literally a 5 minute drive from Retallack Resort and Spa and it’s situated in the beautiful countryside of Saint Columb Major. It’s such a great day out and we will definitely visit again when we come back to Cornwall.
The girls couldn’t contain their excitement when they first walked in. From Little Tikes cars to digger and tractor ride ons, to small slides, big slides and a wooden pirate ship to climb and explore, to Wendy houses, trampolines, Snakes & Ladders and a big Connect 4, children of all ages will be thoroughly entertained. There’s also a dedicated, gated play pen for under 2’s and that has lots of lovely toys and baby slides.
I love the fact that the inside play area is carpeted. It allows your little ones to run around and explore, without the worry of them falling over and hurting themselves. There’s also The Enchanted Wood to explore, which is a magical, dark forest, lit up with UV lighting. There are a couple of wooden houses for the children to discover and a slide hidden inside a tree, if you visit Springfields Fun Park & Pony Centre on a warm day, The Enchanted Wood is a great spot to cool down.
The girls were in their element today and they were literally hopping from one thing to the next as there are so many fun activities and toys to choose from! There are also so many toys to go around, so there was no scrambling for that one favourite toy. I was really impressed at how clean and tidy the play area was, considering the amount of toys, the staff really do take care to keep the mess under control.
The best thing about Springfields Fun Park & Pony Centre is that it’s an all weather attraction. There’s not only the impressive, indoor play area, there is also a farm outside, where chickens and peacocks roam free and a pony centre where children over 18 months can enjoy a pony ride for a small fee. Unfortunately timings didn’t work out for the girls to have a pony ride, but we will make sure we book one next time.
There are lots of activities to do outside including boat rides, trampolines, a large wooden pirate ship and an amazing adventure playground. My Hubby and I couldn’t resist showing the girls how to ride the Zip Wire and the girls loved playing on the swings. There is also an area for picnics with wooden benches, but just be prepared to share your lunch with the cheeky chickens.
It was a really hot today so we didn’t stay outside for long as we normally would. There’s a bunny handling station near the entrance to the indoor play area, where you get to cuddle and stroke rabbits. The girls really enjoyed meeting the bunnies, but I think Flo was plotting to take one home.
We had a quick bite to eat in the Ladybird Cafe, before returning to the indoor play area. The girls spent the rest of the time in the soft play, spinning and balancing and making each other laugh by throwing themselves off. They entertained each other for ages.
If you’re staying in the Newquay area, I highly recommend that you visit Springfields Fun Park & Pony Centre, you will have the best time! For only £21 for a family of three, children under 80cm get in free, it’s such amazing value for money. Check out their website and see for yourselves https://www.springfieldfunpark.co.uk
