I know how tricky it is to wean on the go. You can’t expect your friends to have an abundance of high chairs (altho when you have more than one child, this somehow becomes the case) & trying to feed an overexcited baby with flailing arms & legs on your lap is risky business-you always end up wearing more purée than the baby actually eats. I would definitely recommend a portable, high chair to any parent.

We use the Chicco Pocket Snack Booster Seat. It’s brilliant and only costs £19.99 from Amazon. You can strap it to any chair and it’s free standing, so you can also plonk your baby on the floor to feed. It’s very sturdy and folds down flat so it doesn’t take up much space at all. You can even pop it under your pram.

It comes in a variety of colours and has a tray, so perfect for baby led weaning or indoor picnics on a rainy day! Flo being 6.5 months old, sits really well in it now. I would suggest using the chair from 6 months+. Bella used this chair until recently (her legs are too long to fit under the table. This chair was also a god send when I had my c section with Flo. I couldn’t lift Bella into her high chair, so this made a brilliant alternative.
